JAMES ARTHUR DESIGN CO. HISTORY

Still hustling after
all these years.

James Arthur Design Co. was launched in 2007 by Owner and Designer James Moseman. After a couple of years of working solo, James missed the camaraderie and collaboration that come with working in a team, so he brought on our first employee in 2012.

We strongly believe that we can achieve more together than on our own. James Arthur Design has continued to grow, and we’ve diversified our skill set not only adding more designers but by adding wrinkles with SEO and Social Media specialists.

We feel like we’re hitting the perfect balance of being a small, tight-knit design studio while still offering a wide range of creative services under one roof.

In 2025, the James Arthur Design Co. headquarters moved into a new building, conveniently located right off the square in Marion, Illinois. Just look for our sweet sign by our buddy Garrett Betts. The majority of our team works in-house, and we have plenty of space for meetings. Feel free to stop by and introduce yourself or contact us to find out more.

01. Discover

The James Arthur Design team starts by understanding your business, goals, and project scope, ensuring alignment through questions and collaboration. Planning establishes a clear direction, timeline, and budget to keep the project on track and accountable.

02. Create

Concepts are developed based on initial insights and presented for feedback. Revisions are made to perfect the design, ensuring the final product meets your expectations.

03. Deliver

Finalized designs are prepared, formatted, and delivered for use. The James Arthur Design team handles printing, broadcasting, or placement to ensure high-quality outcomes tailored to your needs.

"James Arthur" Moseman himself - the owner and creative director of James Arthur Design Co.

James Moseman

Owner and Creative Director

I started James Arthur Design Co. in 2007 as a one-person operation, and nearly 20 years later, I’m still here — just a bit older. My background is in UI and graphic design, having worked in the early days of interactive web design before founding Arthur Agency and eventually James Arthur Design Co. with a focus on quality work and one-on-one client relationships.
What motivates me most is our clients, our team, and the future we’re building together. I’m driven by solving problems, creating meaningful work, and fostering a collaborative environment where talented people can do their best work.
When I’m in the office, you’ll likely find me with French roast coffee close by, snacking on string cheese or hot chips, grabbing a Chicago-style Italian beef from Let’s Beef Frank, or sneaking in a foosball game when I can.

Matt Carnaghi

Vice President of Business Development

I’ve been with the company for eight years. My background spans the banking industry, where I managed teams and worked closely with small businesses, before transitioning into marketing as Director of Business Development at a social media management company. I joined James Arthur Design Co. in sales and have since grown into the VP role, overseeing sales, client relations, HR compliance, and project contracts. I’m also a minority owner of ShedBetter, where I support clients in the portable shed industry in a similar capacity.
My go-to morning drink is a matcha from Koufuen Tea Shop & Cafe in Kanie, Japan. A quote I live by: “Do I need to be liked? Absolutely not. I like to be liked. I enjoy being liked. I have to be liked, but it's not like this compulsive need to be liked, like my need to be praised.”

Ashley Hutchcraft

Studio Manager

I joined James Arthur Design Co. in September 2025. I bring over eight years of experience as an office manager, along with more than a decade in collections, insurance claims, and banking.
My go-to coffee order is a white mocha cinnamon dolce, and I’m a fan of just about any kind of food. What motivates me most is making sure our clients are happy and seeing every project through to completion.

Senior Designer

I joined James Arthur Design Co. in August 2021. Before JADC, I worked as a graphic designer for an architecture firm in St. Louis, focusing on wayfinding, signage, and environmental graphics. While branding and logo design are my main passions, I love seeing design come to life in real-world spaces.
At JADC, I work across branding, logo design, web development, publication design, and built-environment projects like wall graphics and signage. I enjoy the variety of work and the opportunity to bring a broad skill set to each project.
My go-to coffee order is a Cuban from Crown Brew — we’re lucky to have such a great coffee shop right across the street. What I enjoy most about working here is the people and the variety of projects that keep every day interesting.

Senior Designer

I joined James Arthur Design Co. in October 2021. After earning my BFA in Graphic Design from Oregon State University and gaining experience in web and front-end design, I felt drawn to move back home to Southern Illinois. I wanted to find a job with a wider range of projects, and I’ve been happy working at JADC ever since.

I’m usually snacking on something sweet with a cappuccino in hand, the perfect combo. But, what I enjoy most about working at JADC is the team camaraderie, whether that’s getting quick feedback, winning a game of foosball, or heading to John Brown’s after work.

Social Media Manager

I started at James Arthur Design Co. as an intern in May 2023 and transitioned to a full-time Social Media Manager in October of that year. I graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a BS in Fashion Merchandising and Design. Currently, I manage both organic and paid social media efforts for our clients, helping brands grow and connect with their audiences across platforms.
I’m the only one in the office who doesn’t drink coffee… I’m more of a chai girl. My go-to snacks are sweet treats, and my motto is simple: "Life is a party, dress for it!"

Braydon Brower

SEO, Google Ads Specialist

I started working at James Arthur in October 2024. After earning a degree in media studies, I worked in television and broadcast news out west before transitioning into marketing when my wife and I moved back to southern Illinois. Now focus on SEO and Google Ads to help our clients grow. Outside of work, my coffee order changes with the seasons: cold brew in the summer, hot coffee or cappuccinos in the winter, and tea in the afternoons. I take pride in providing hands-on, transparent support so clients always know who’s managing their marketing.

Graphic Designer

I joined James Arthur Design Co. in November 2024. Before JADC, I studied Graphic Design at Rend Lake College and Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, earning my BFA. After moving back to Southern Illinois, I freelanced with local brands, worked in retail, and gained experience at a local print shop before finding my way to JADC.

My go-to coffee order is a drip coffee with creamer and three sugars from Crown Brew — it always does the trick. I’m motivated by a desire to continually innovate my craft through learning and experimenting across the many mediums of graphic design.

Rafael Fu

Web & Systems Engineer

I started working at James Arthur in December 2025. I’m a web developer, digital marketer, and IT support specialist with over 10 years of experience. Over the past decade, I’ve worked as a freelancer with more than 150 clients, sharpening my problem-solving skills and collaborating across both creative and technical teams to keep projects running smoothly.
I’m a purist when it comes to coffee — a simple black coffee is all I need to start the day. My motto: “A mind free of anger, fear, and greed is the center of world peace.”

Our Sister Company Tailored for the Shed Industry

After working with our longtime client Marten Portable Buildings, we were introduced to the portable shed industry. The industry has been incredibly good to us. Over the years, we’ve worked with more than 50 clients within the industry. We enjoy working with shed clients so much that we decided to start a sister company specifically for this sector. ShedBetter offers the same high-quality service as James Arthur Design Co., but tailored to meet the unique needs of the shed industry.
